As part of the World Food Programme’s Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiative, entrepreneur trainings were successfully conducted for School Meal Providers across Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Matale, Monaragala, Batticaloa, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya districts to involve SMP as a business model.
Following two Training-of-Trainers (TOT) workshops for government officers, around 165 basic enterprise management trainings were carried out by the participants of TOT to enhance the entrepreneurial and enterprise management capacities of nearly 2900 school meal providers. 350 selected participants covering all the 7 districts were nominated to complete advanced-level training programmes designed to strengthen business management skills and support the sustainability of their enterprises. After the advance trainings, selected progressive HGSF beneficiaries were further trained on Finance Literacy and Access to Finance providing Incubation and acceleration support. This initiative helped them access finance more effectively and motivated them to improve their business practices, with strong dedication and commitment to growing into successful sustainable entrepreneurs.
