The Industrial Services Bureau, under the North Western Provincial Council, together with DVV International, has taken a big step towards empowering individuals who are not engaged in professional employment or formal education who specifically known as NEETs.

To facilitate this, market dialogue forums were held on 16th, 17th, and 18th September 2025 in Kurunegala and Marawila with the participation of key stakeholder agencies including government bodies, training institutes and industries who involved in construction, automobile, agriculture, fisheries and trade sectors. The focus was on opening doors for new opportunities such as:

Vocational training programs

Employment prospects in various sectors

Self-employment and entrepreneurship initiatives

Community-based income generation activities

This initiative aimed to build inclusive and sustainable economic pathways that give people the chance to learn, grow and actively contribute to their communities
