As we all aware, International Women’s Day falls on 08th March 2024 and the theme for 2024 is ‘Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality through Economic Empowerment’. Since ISB is an organization actively involved in women economic empowerment activities, we organized a program in connection with the international women’s day.
This program was successfully conducted on 08th March 2024 at the Hotel Kandyan Reach with the participation of 150 women representing small and medium entrepreneurs, business community and professionals in Kurunegala.
Main objective of this program was to increase the women’s contribution for the economic development of North Western Province and Specific objectives were to discuss the challenges and opportunities for women economic empowerment regional, national and international level, to make an eye-opener event for gender equality and women empowerment, to encourage women to engage economic activities in the province and to launch the gender policy prepared by Industrial Services Bureau.
In particular, the program consisted of several important parts, namely the panel discussion and live beauty programs. For the panel discussion following key figures were
participated.
1. Mrs. Sandra Wanduragala – Chairperson of Selyn Exporters (Pvt) Ltd. & Royal International School
2. Mrs. Sujeewani Mallawa, Addistional District Secretary – Kurunegala
3. Mrs. Samudrika De Silva – Chairperson, Samudra Bookshop & Samudra Supermarket
4. 4. Mrs. Kalapali Hettiarachchi – Bridal Designer (Owner of Kalapali Bridal Trendz)
Mr. Ranjith Ariyaratne, Chief Secretary of North Western Province / Chairman of ISB and Dr. P.H.R. Suraweera, Managing Director of Wayamba Diagnosis Laboratory & Wound Care Centre / Member of ISB Board of Directors were also attended for this important program.
