Value chain development study in Pattipalai and Vaharai division was proposed by WVL to understand ground level economic activities and associated links in order to design need driven interventions. Purpose of the study is to identify the most potential fast growing sectors in the area where having potential vertical and horizontal integrations as to pass through benefit of sector development in to community people who are vulnerable in socio economic context.
ISB involved in conducting the value chain study in Pattipalai and Vaharai as a consultant. Having a sector selection workshop with the participation of stakeholders it was decided to select three economic sectors in Pattipalai DS division namely Dairy, Goat farming and Cowpea production for the study. In vaharai, Dairy, Inland fishery and Paddy sectors were selected for the study. Following steps were followed in order to complete the Value Chain study.

- Primary data collection (FGDs and KIIs were used as tools for primary data collection)
- Data Analysis
- Preparation of draft report (Which consists of socio economic analysis for the district and division, sector analysis, value chain analysis (gap identification) and recommendations)
- Oral Presentation on key findings for the stakeholders and officers of WVL
