The National Science Foundation (NSF) under the purview of Ministry of Science, Technology, and Research is mandated to carry out the National R&D Surveys by the Science and Technology Development Act No.11 of 1994. Accordingly, information is collected from government, private and non-government sector institutions annually by the NSF measure the status of R&D in the country.
For the year 2016 and 2017, the Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) of North Western Province will be conducting the National R&D Survey on behalf of the NSF.
It is noted that the contribution of the business enterprise sector to the national R&D is crucial factor for the socio-economic development of the country. Therefore, it is very important to assess the current situation of the R&D activities of the business enterprise sector to examine the potentials, constraints, and challenges faced by them in conducting R&D activities. Further, the outcome of this survey will assist the policy authorities to take necessary actions to improve resource mobility to facilitate and increase R&D, designing plans for provision of tax concessions for R&D investment, Imports of equipment etc. for the improvement of the R&D capacity of the sector.
